Popular now, but forgettable over time, The Maccabees seem destined to be another in the line of niche nostalgia bands.

- BBC Music Review by Keira Burgess (2009)

There was a time when band seem to have reached a point where they barely know what to do, but they know what to pursue. Maybe because I am not so much into this album some of those who know the band. But it is a shame not to include this album. It feels, for a while, that extremely not liking this album is as good as those who, despite being noteworthy, despise Given To The Wild. But aren’t all bands suffer from that kind of ‘block’ the moment they finish their passion project that they barely know how to proceed.

This is also important. For some reason, we are introduced to a band who knows what to do with their sound, who seem to have this musical identity. Also take note how their contemporaries were doing during those years.

This may look redundant but, well, enjoy the lyrics.

William Powers, appear to be one of their strong points in this album, where Love You Better introduces you to a very good music video. So much beauty there is that it feels like they really have grown from previous releases they’ve done. Note that they are on their sophomore LP this time.

What about William Powers?

Guys, you need to see them perform live to appreciate the entire movement within the band. This is where everyone’s doing the now now now now now part. In return, you feel the entire crowd respond to them.

Still laddish.

I have no idea this one sticks too much like an annoying mascot. But the band is still young as of 2009. IDK, but I tell you, nobody was so sure of everything as of those days. Suddenly 2009 felt like a very long time ago.

The entire thing plays like an old underrated track until you find yourself listening to it all over again and it works pretty well this time. Maybe because you had things brew through time that you feel like it now.

now now now now now / we’ve grown up with it/ now now now now now / we know, if that’s enough/ then that’s enough for now

PS: I am always asking who WILLIAM POWERS is. Maybe any of you know. Leave a comment if you do. : )
